"A Step-by-Step Guide to Finding Your Perfect Wedding Dress"

The date is set. Your venue is booked. So now its time for one of the most exciting parts of the wedding planning process purchasing your wedding dress. I recently had the pleasure of going to a new bridal shop in Basingstoke Hampshire Rachychic Dress Boutique to photograph some models and there was so much choice this particular shop had 150 wedding dresses alone! It just got me thinking about the entire process of purchasing your wedding gown.

There are so many options where do you start?

How far in advance should I purchase my wedding dress?

12 months before your wedding is defiantly a good time to start looking for your wedding dress you can start getting ideas on what kind of style you want. This can be done online or you can go to a bridal store.

Style

The style of your wedding dress is very important it will depend on the style of your wedding your body type and of course your budget. There are lots of styles to consider from:

The mermaid: its a figure shape hugging dress that pops out at your knees and hugs your curves.

The Ball gown: This dress always reminds of a Disney princess Cinderella or Belle come to mind. The top is fitted to the body and the skirt is normally large with lots of layers.

The Aline: The Aline dress fits at the top of your body and then flares out at your waist its a very classic wedding dress style that will suit most body types.

Tea length: This dress doesn't touch the floor it stops at the ankles. These dresses are great if you don't want a full length gown they are quite popular with 50s style / retro weddings.

I have only listed a few there are so many more!

The necklines

The neckline is also very important there are lots of different options . At the time of choosing my wedding dress I knew I wanted a sweetheart neckline I just loved the way it looked. So as mentioned you have the sweetheart neck line off the shoulder the V- neck the straight and a high neck line.

Do I need alterations?

Most brides will probably need some kind of alterations to there dress. It could be because it needs taking up because its too long or it could be that the top of your dress is a bit too big this is where a seamstress comes to the recuse. Your bridal store will be able to recommend a seamstress for your alterations.

Dress shops like Rachychic Dress Boutique Basingstoke also sell veils and accessories so you can get everything you need in one shop. This is the dress you have been dreaming about since you where a little girl. The wedding dress shopping experience is something to enjoy take people you trust with you and enjoy the process. Do go and look at all of Rachael's dresses at Rachychic Dress Boutique at Suite 3 Slington House Rankine Road Basingstoke RG24 8PH.

Happy Shopping!
